Text Box: NEW EXHIBITION Malthouse Books is delighted to be sponsoring the exhibition: FACING UP TO BEETLES: THE ENTOMOLOGIST’S PERSPECTIVE PRINTS AND DRAWINGS BY MICHAEL DARBY The first showing, at the Young Gallery in Salisbury Library which closed on 2 January, was a great success with much favourable comment and an ‘appearance’ by Michael on Sue Davies’ Radio 4 chat show. Views of the exhibition in the Young Gallery, Salisbury Library. Some of the comments Plans are now being made to show the exhibition at the York Insect Festival in July and in Oxford and Swindon, but we hope that the exhibition will continue to travel and we would be pleased to hear from any institution that would be interested to take it. The images, all of which have been produced digitally and are available for purchase separately, are supported by self explanatory text panels, and we are able to print posters and private view cards to suit. The full exhibition requires 125 feet of wall space. The supporting material including specimens , books, etc. included in the Salisbury show is also available. Click here to see the full range of images, prices, etc. HOVERFLIES REPRINTED Alan Stubbs and Steven Falk, British Hoverflies An Illustrated Identification Guide, last published by the British Entomological and Natural History Society in 2002 but out of print for some time, has been reprinted and is now available at the original price. This superb volume must surely be one of the most successful entomological books devoted to a single family of insects other than Lepidoptera of recent times. First published in 1983 has been enlarged and updated no fewer than six times. For further details click here SOLDIERFLIES NEW EDITION NEARLY READY The second edition of Alan Stubbs and Martin Drake, British Soldierflies and their Allies, first published by the British Entomological and Natural History in 2001 is almost ready to go to the printers and will be out before the end of the year.
